Pre-Viking Age (1500-800 BC).
“Hällristningar” are ancient rock carvings – pictures and signs cut into stones, boulders and ice-polished rocks – found all over Scandinavia. The logo for Denmark’s Presidency ff the EC in 1987 is based on this petroglyph engraving of a ship found on a stone near Gilleleje in Northern Sjaelland, and dates back to approximately 1000 BC.
