Urnaes-Style Brooch
£116.47
Description
Viking Age (800-1050 AD).
Stylised Brooch in the Urnaes fashion, named after the wood carvings on the Stave Church of Urnaes, Norway, and found at Lindholm Høje, Ålborg, Denmark. Typical of this style, the motif depicts a fantasy animal fighting a snake, and is often interpreted as Christianity in battle against Paganism – the latter of course represented by the serpent.
An ideal gift idea for Her.
